Testing Testing

My work focuses on figures, faces and forms in charcoal, paint

and print which combine reality with abstraction. I am influenced

by my recent work with people who often find themselves living

on the margins of society as well as by my previous teaching

experiences with young people and their families,

many of whom were disabled and disaffected.

Since moving to Cornwall I have benefited from the supportive

artistic community, the inspirational landscape and the

expressive freedom of the far west.

I am currently working on a series of figures and faces representing

the influences and ambiguities of our national and international

cultural and social heritage. I am also exploring the use

of natural pigments and other, often discarded,

materials through print and paint.
